Design & Manufacture

Rovtech Solutions utilise industry standard design principles to support their clients requirement for design support and bespoke solutions. Able to offer a turnkey approach to product and solution development; Rovtech are able to work through concept development and proof of concept, design and prototype development, component appraisal and selection, prototype manufacture and testing, and product manufacture and testing. During the process the principles of Design for Manufacture are embraced alongside the requirement for EMC testing and CE Marking.

Our design engineers are proficient with the most up to date 3D design software, programming and 3D modelling solutions. With decades of experience in nuclear, oil & gas and marine, our design team are able to transfer knowledge across sectors to offer award winning innovation.

Combining Rovtech Solutions’ design with their in-house manufacturing capability, engineering challenges can be rapidly and efficiently taken from concept, through prototype to completion to highest quality standards expected by highly regulated nuclear and oil & gas clients. Rovtech’s design and manufacturing capabilities include:

  • Client Consultation Liaising with our client and their operations team, Rovtech will assess the scope of requirements and, as a team, formulate a concept/solution
  • Risk Assessment An overarching design risk assessment will be used to inform future actions
  • 3D CAD Modelling & Design Following client approval of the solution, the concept will often be computer modelled in 3D, and a 3D environment will be generated to test the concept against computer generated parameters
  • Functional Design If required by our client a proof of concept “mock-up” will be manufactured and tested for functionality and client approval sought for final manufacture
  • Testing Testing of equipment is undertaken using Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) as agreed by both Client and Rovtech Solutions, ensuring all aspects required are captured and recorded.
  • CE Marking All products are CE Marked.
  • Lifetime Quality Records LTQRs are produced when requested and contain all requested information from Material Inspection Records through to FAT, incorporating all required paperwork requested by the client.
  • Quality Assurance Quality Management is assured by our UKAS accredited ISO 9001:2015 certification
  • Quality Grade Rovtech Solutions are approved for Quality Grade 2 supply into Sellafield

We can develop and produce Animated Show reels for new products, show fly-throughs to provide visualisation of hard to reach environments, and much, much more. Rovtech Solutions utilises the latest versions of Industry Standard Software including Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Blender, Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Animate, Illustrator, Microsoft Office and a lot more.

3D Product Animation

RSL extends its In-House service to those Clients who require 3D Product Animation. We can create a 3D model of your component(s) and place it into a fully immersive animation. This allows your clients to see a virtually working product without the need to spend on prototyping, materials, man-hours, etc.

3D Environmental Simulation

Visualise your project in a virtual environment with RSL's 3D Environmental Simulation service. Utilizing cutting-edge 3D technology, we bring your components to life in a virtual environment, saving you time and resources in prototyping and production.

When designing for hazardous environments it is important that operations intended to be performed by remote tooling and equipment can be visualised at an early stage. With the aid of CAD, RSL can take a map of a proposed environment, build in typical constraints and superimpose design concepts to demonstrate functionality. Tool designs can then be developed to incorporate a more informed approach, thus saving time on the development of “real world” prototypes

Product Development Solutions

Rovtech Solutions have a history of developing bespoke engineering solutions for harsh Environments. Since the first offshore ROV design, ground-breaking solutions for the nuclear industry and their latest award-winning innovations Rovtech have developed a business culture for innovative design.

Utilising their design and manufacturing capability Rovtech have delivered numerous packages of work in support of their nuclear and oil & gas clients. Often taking client’s requirement for an engineering solution to an emergent problem and providing a cost-effective, pragmatic tool within hours of initial contact. Rovtech have provided offsite support services to their main nuclear client for over a decade, supplying AV inspection equipment, ROV and ROV spares, ROV tooling, long reach tooling and many other bespoke solutions.

Project Management

A typical project would take the following route

Test Facilities

With two Underwater Test Facilities at our disposal we can offer our clients comprehensive benchmarking and testing of products & services, as well as on-site training and operations at affordable prices. Our facilities are available for hire on a daily basis, and can be used for a wide range of testing and training purposes.

Our main Underwater Test Facility is based within the Port of Barrow-in-Furness. The sixty-metre stretch of dock frontage makes an ideal area for large scale project testing. The dock is eight metres deep and with its floor covered by a natural stratified sludge, it makes an ideal proving ground especially for the nuclear industry. Our underwater facilities are utilised by some of the biggest names in decommissioning.

Meanwhile, our indoor test facility located within our extensive workshop provides the ability to test indoors in all weather conditions and with excellent viewing capabilities. And is ideal for carrying out some sort of testing to do with concept work in a discreet controllable environment.
